Can viewers record video or voice answers?

Short answer

Yes. Add a question and choose Video Response or Voice Response. The viewer records in the browser after they allow camera or microphone access, for up to 120 seconds, and nothing needs to be installed. Video and voice questions are on every plan.

How to do it

1. In the editor, add a Question at the time you want to ask.
2. Set the type to Video Response or Voice Response.
3. Write the prompt. Tell the viewer what to talk about and how long to speak.
4. Set the question’s other options, such as whether the viewer can skip it.
5. Open the share link in a private window and record a test answer. Preview does not save responses.
6. Open Reporting > Interactions to play the recording.

What the viewer sees

• A Record Response button. Recording expands to fill the player.
• A limit of 120 seconds for each recording.
• Controls to play back the recording, record again, cancel, or Save Recording.
• Skip and rewind controls, and other interactions, are hidden while recording.

Camera and microphone permission

The browser asks the viewer for permission the first time. If the viewer blocked access, they must allow it in the browser’s site settings and reload the page. The Mindstamp embed code allows the camera and microphone. If you change the embed code, keep microphone and camera in the iframe’s allow attribute.

Scoring

Video and voice answers are not scored. They do not count toward a quiz score or the cScore variable.

Know who answered

Each recording is saved with the viewer’s record and can be exported. Turn on lead capture, or pass the viewer’s details in the link, so that each recording has a name.

Privacy

A recording of a face or voice is personal data. Tell viewers how you will use it, and ask only when the answer needs to be spoken or shown.
