Can viewers add comments to a video?

Updated · 1 min read

Short answer

Yes. Turn on Allow viewers to add comments in the video’s Settings. The player then shows an Add comment button. A viewer selects it, types a comment and submits it, and Mindstamp saves the comment with the time in the video. You read comments in your reports. Other viewers do not see them, and there are no replies.

  1. Open the video and select Settings.
  2. Under Access & privacy, turn on Allow viewers to add comments.
  3. Open the share link in a private browser window and play the video.
  4. Select Add comment in the player. The video pauses.
  5. Type a comment and select Submit. The video plays again.
  6. Open Reporting > Views and open the view. The comment shows with its time in the video.
  • Only your reports show comments. The player never shows one viewer’s comment to another viewer.
  • A comment is text only.
  • Comments are viewer data. See personal data.
  • To ask every viewer the same thing at a set moment, use a free response question instead.
