How do I make part of a video loop?

Short answer

Add a Change Time navigation at the end of the section and point it back to the start. For example, to loop 0:10 to 0:20, set the navigation’s Action Time to 0:20 and its Time to switch to to 0:10. To replay the whole video, set End Screen to Replay Video (Automatic).

How to do it

1. Select Interactions and move the playhead to the end of the section, for example 0:20.
2. Click More in the interaction bar and choose Change Time.
3. Check that the Action Time is 0:20.
4. Set Time to switch to to the start of the section, for example 0:10.
5. Save.
6. Add a way out, such as a button that shows from 0:10 to 0:20 with a Change Time click action to 0:21.
7. Play from 0:05 and check that the section repeats and that the button leaves the loop.

Give viewers a way out

The loop runs each time playback reaches 0:20, with no limit. Add a button or hotspot inside the loop that jumps past the end of the section or switches to another video. To end the loop after a choice, have the button set a variable (Core and higher plans) and hide the navigation with conditional logic when the variable is set (Pro and higher plans).

Common uses

• A menu screen that waits in motion until the viewer picks a chapter.
• A product turning on a stand until the viewer chooses a color.
• Background footage behind a question or a form.

Tips for a smooth loop

• Pick start and end points where the picture and sound match, so the jump is hard to see.
• A navigation cannot run before 0:01, so a loop cannot end at 0:00.
• The loop also runs in the editor. Pause the video to stop it while you edit.

Loop the whole video
