Can I trim a video or combine clips in Mindstamp?

Short answer

No. Mindstamp does not edit the video file, so you cannot trim, cut or join clips in it. Edit the file in a video editor, then upload it or replace the source. To skip part of a video or play one video after another, use Change Time and Switch Video interactions.

How to do it

1. To skip a section, open the video in the editor and move the playhead to the start of the section.
2. In the interaction bar, select More, then Change Time.
3. Set the time to jump to, which is the end of the section you want to skip.
4. To play another video next, add a Switch Video interaction at the end and choose the next video.
5. Select Preview and watch the full path as a viewer.

Edit the file first

Use any video editor to trim, cut or join clips, for example QuickTime Player, iMovie, Clipchamp, Kapwing or DaVinci Resolve. Then add the new file to Mindstamp.

If the video already has interactions, use More > Replace source video. Your interactions stay, but check their times if you removed or added footage. See how to replace the video file.

Skip part of a video

Change Time moves the viewer to another point in the same video. Use it to skip an intro or a section that does not apply to some viewers. You can also add it as the click action of a button. See the Change Time feature.

To start a share link or embed later in the video, set Start at on the Share page.

Play videos in order

Switch Video moves the viewer to another video in your library. Use it for a fixed sequence, or give viewers a choice with branching. Each video in a branch counts toward your plan’s video limit.
