What is a video clip in Mindstamp?

Short answer

A Video Clip is a short video that plays inside your main video. At the clip’s time, the main video pauses and the clip plays; when the clip ends, the main video continues. Clips come from your asset library, where you upload or record them, and they do not count as separate videos in your library.

How to do it

1. Open the video in the editor and move the playhead to where the clip should play.
2. In the interaction bar, select More, then Video Clip.
3. Select Select Clip and choose a clip from your assets.
4. To add a new clip, select Upload Video (MP4, MOV or WebM) or Record Video to record with your camera for up to 2 minutes.
5. Set where the clip shows on the frame and its size.
6. Select Preview and watch the clip play and the main video continue.

Play a clip when a viewer clicks

You can also play a clip from a button, hotspot or image. Set the click action to Play Video Clip and choose the clip. A clip played from a click fills the player.

Let viewers skip clips

By default, viewers watch the full clip. To show a close button on clips, go to Settings > Playback and turn on Allow skipping of video & audio clips.

How clips count on your plan

A clip is not a video in your library, so it does not use your video limit. Clips use your asset library allowance: Basic 20, Core 100, Pro 250, Scale 500 and Ultra 1,500. A video you send viewers to with branching is a separate library video.

Good uses for clips

• A short demo or definition that some viewers need and others do not.
• A personal message from a presenter inside a longer recorded video.
• A correction or update, so you do not need to re-record the main video.
