How do I add a Mindstamp video to Articulate Storyline or Rise?
Short answer
In Storyline 360, select Insert, then Web Object, and paste the address from the Mindstamp Basic iframe code. In Rise 360, add an Embed block and paste the whole Basic iframe code. The published course does not receive the video score, so for a score, import the Mindstamp SCORM package into Reach 360 or your LMS as its own course.
How to do it
Copy link to How to do it- In Mindstamp, publish the video from its Share page if it is not published yet.
- Under Embed, choose Basic iframe and select Copy embed code. Copy only the address inside src. It starts with https.
- In Storyline 360, open the slide. On the Insert tab, select Web Object.
- Paste the address in the Address field and select Test Link.
- Under Display in, choose the slide or a new browser window. Leave Load automatically on to load the player without a click.
- Resize the placeholder with its handles. Then publish to Review 360, the web, or your LMS, and play the slide there. Web objects do not show in preview.
Add the video to Rise 360
Copy link to Add the video to Rise 360- In the lesson, add an Embed block from the Multimedia category. Blocks such as Tabs, Accordion, and Process also take web content: select the media folder icon, then Embed from web.
- Paste the whole Basic iframe code. Rise checks embeds through Embedly and accepts a URL or a single iframe.
- If Rise says “Please enter a valid URL or iframe”, the code has text outside the iframe tags, or single or curly quotes. Copy the Basic iframe code again from Mindstamp and paste it as it is.
- Rise says videos in embedded content do not pause when the learner switches tabs or scrolls away.
Paste embed code in Storyline instead
Copy link to Paste embed code in Storyline insteadThe Web Object dialog has no field for embed code. To paste code, select Insert, the Video drop-down, then Video from Website, and paste the Basic iframe code. Articulate says website videos play apart from the slide, so the timeline, cue points, and triggers do not control the player.
If the web object is blank after you publish
Copy link to If the web object is blank after you publish- Storyline needs https. Mixed content can make a web object flicker or not show.
- Published output fails when you open it from your own computer. Upload it to a web server or your LMS.
- If a browser blocks the player inside the slide, set Display in to a new browser window. Articulate gives this fix for sites that send X-Frame-Options.
- Articulate says learners need the security permissions to reach internet content. Check that your network does not block https://embed.mindstamp.com.
Import the SCORM package into Reach 360
Copy link to Import the SCORM package into Reach 360- On the Mindstamp Share page, under Export, select Download SCORM package. This needs a Core plan or higher. Choose any version and a Completion Checkpoint of 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95 or 100 percent.
- In Reach 360, select Manage, Courses, Add Courses, then Import course. Upload the complete ZIP file. Reach 360 takes SCORM 1.2 or any SCORM 2004 edition, one course per import, up to 5 GB.
- Reach 360 opens imported courses in a new window, so a pop-up blocker can stop the launch. Articulate names Safari.
- Imported course addresses start with learn.riseusercontent.com. If you limit embed domains and the course shows Code 617, add that domain too.
- Reach 360 says SCORM 2004 imports do not show a passing grade. After a test, check the learner report for the score.
- Updating an imported course resets learner progress but keeps completions. You rarely need to: edits in Mindstamp show without a new upload.
If your account restricts embed domains
Copy link to If your account restricts embed domainsIf you set Allowed embed domains in Mindstamp, add your LMS domain and any domain where the published course runs to the list. Otherwise learners see “Video not available: Code 617”. See restrict embed domains.
Know which learner watched
Copy link to Know which learner watchedThe embed does not receive the learner’s LMS account. To see names in Mindstamp reports, add lead capture to the video so learners enter their name and email. A SCORM package passes the name and ID from the LMS instead. See viewer identity and anonymous viewers.
