Can I get an email when a learner completes a video?
Turn on Email me on completion in a video's Lead Capture settings. Set a minimum completion and score. The email shows the learner, watched percent and score.
Short answer
Yes. Open the video, select Lead Capture, and under Alerts turn on Email me on completion. You can set a Minimum completion and a Minimum score. Mindstamp emails you once for each qualifying view by an identified learner.
How to do it
- Open the video and select Lead Capture.
- Under Alerts, turn on Email me on completion.
- Enter a Minimum completion percentage. If you leave it blank, the learner must watch 100%.
- Optional: enter a Minimum score. Leave it at 0 to send the email whatever the score.
- Make sure learners are identified. Use lead capture that asks for an email, a personalized link, or URL parameters with email or custom_id.
- Test: open the video in a private window with [email protected] at the end of the link. Watch past the minimum, then close the tab. The email arrives after the view ends.
When the email is sent
- Only for identified learners. The view must have an email address or a custom ID. Anonymous views do not send an email.
- After the viewing session ends, not at the moment the learner reaches the percentage.
- Once per view. If the learner watches again, the new view can send another email.
- The score check uses the report score, which counts every answer attempt.
Who receives it
The completion email goes to the email address of the video owner. The alert card shows the address under Sends to. The email shows the learner's name or contact details, the watched percentage, the score, and a link to their viewer report.
Other ways to get completion data
- Webhooks and Zapier can send each completed view to another system, such as a team channel or spreadsheet. View webhooks and Zapier are on Core and higher plans.
- Recurring exports email a CSV report daily, weekly, twice a month or monthly. They are on Pro and higher plans. See export training records.
- Email me each new lead is a separate alert. It sends an email when a viewer submits lead capture.
