Incorporating videos throughout your website content and landing pages is a great way to provide information to viewers, catch their attention quickly and keep them on your page longer. Just by including a video on your landing page, you can increase conversions by over 80%. The two most common ways to post a video on your website are to download your video and reupload to your site or include a video embed directly on your site; however, we recommend embedding the video directly to your site. Here’s why:
When you embed a video, you are hosting the video at another location and linking to it on your website. This means that the video doesn’t use your site’s bandwidth since it’s hosted on another website, but visitors can still watch the video directly on your site. Using a video embed will allow for better optimization and the opportunity to use an interactive video platform like Mindstamp to capture more information about your viewers, increase view time and keep your website visitors engaged with your content. Because interactive videos allow for personalization, dynamic interactions, and data collection using buttons, hotspots, questions, images, and more, the video needs to be used as a hosted solution and embedded or shared as a full-screen link in order for the interactive features to work.
1. Upload or link your video to Mindstamp’s interactive video platform. Check out this tutorial for more information on how to upload your video to Mindstamp.
2. Click on ‘Share’ on the right sidebar to open the different sharing options. In this section, you’ll have the ability to update the privacy settings, copy the embed code, or create a shared or personalized link.
For video embeds, you can select ‘Copy Pop-out Embed Code’ or ‘Copy In-line Embed Code’— Both options work for a website; it just depends on which style you prefer for your site. For a pop-out embed code, the video will take over the full screen, and for in-line the video will play on the web page where you place it.
3. Once you’ve decided which style you prefer, you’ll select ‘Copy Popout Embed Code,’ or ' Copy Inline Embed Code' and the code will automatically copy to your clipboard.
4. Lastly, you’ll paste that code directly into your website using iframe embeds or custom HTML. Be sure to choose one of these options rather than a "video" embed as most site creators and LMS only accept Youtube videos through this method.
While sharing links can be an effective way to reach your audience on social media, you should always use a video embed on your site to ensure that your viewers can get the full interactive experience without leaving your site.
If you need to distribute your video other than on your website, there are other sharing options available on the Mindstamp platform.
