How does the Shopify integration work?

Short answer

Connect your store in Integrations > Shopify with your myshopify.com address. Then add a button, image, hotspot or text to a video and give it the Add to Cart click action with a product. Viewers add products to an in-video cart and go to your Shopify checkout. Shopify is on every plan.

How to do it

1. In Mindstamp, open Integrations and select Shopify.
2. Enter your Shopify Store URL, the address that ends in myshopify.com, and select Connect Shopify. Approve the app in Shopify.
3. Open the video, go to its Shopify integration, and pick the store under Select store for this video.
4. Add a button, image, hotspot or text interaction and choose the Add to Cart click action.
5. Choose the product and the variant, or let the viewer choose the variant.
6. Choose Add to cart to build a cart, or Buy now to send the viewer straight to checkout with that one product.
7. Preview the video, add a product, open the cart and select Checkout to test.

What the viewer sees

With Add to cart, the video pauses and a cart opens with the product. The viewer can change quantities, keep watching or go to checkout. With Buy now, checkout opens in a new window.

The cart link is also stored in the `{{checkout_url}}` variable, so you can use it on another button or in the end screen.

If you cannot use the app connection

Select Use Storefront API token instead and enter your Shopify Store URL and a Storefront API access token from a custom app in your Shopify admin. The token needs permission to read product listings and to read and write checkouts. Shopify changes its admin screens from time to time, so follow Shopify’s current guide to create the token.

Tracking sales

Carts made in Mindstamp carry the attributes Mindstamp Video, Mindstamp Play ID and Mindstamp Interaction ID, so you can see in Shopify which video and which interaction started the order. Add to Cart clicks also show in Reporting > Interactions.
