What does the Decisions report show?

Updated · 2 min read

Short answer

The Decisions report shows what viewers chose when your video offers two or more clickable options at once. Mindstamp treats buttons, hotspots, images and text items that share a show time and a hide time as one decision. For each decision, it counts the first option each viewer clicked.

  1. Give two or more buttons, hotspots, images or text items the same show time and the same hide time. Give each one a click action other than None.
  2. Publish the video and share it. A decision shows in the report after a viewer clicks one of its options.
  3. Open the video, select Reporting, then select Decisions. You can also select Questions under Reporting in the side menu and open the Decisions tab.
  4. Filter by date, video, group, folder, playlist or variable.
  5. Select a decision to see each option’s share of the choices and its clicks.
  6. Select View responses to see each viewer’s choice. To download the responses, open the menu next to View responses and select Export CSV.
  • Two or more buttons, hotspots, images or text items with the same show time and the same hide time, to the tenth of a second.
  • Each option needs a click action. An item set to None is left out.
  • Items in the Magic Menu, in a pop-out or on the end screen are not part of a decision.
  • If you change an option’s times or delete an option, the old decision no longer matches. A saved link to it shows Decision not found.
  • A choice is the first option a viewer clicked in one view. Each option’s percentage is its share of all choices for that decision.
  • Clicks counts every click on an option, including repeat clicks and clicks after the viewer chose another option.
  • Required means the viewer must click an option before the video continues.
  • Conditional marks an option that shows only when its conditional logic is met.

The CSV has one row for each view, with the date, the viewer, the email, the chosen option and its letter, and any other options the viewer clicked.

The Decisions report is on every plan.
