How do I use the Meta (Facebook) Pixel with Mindstamp?

Updated · 2 min read

Short answer

Open Integrations, select Connect on the Facebook card, enter your Facebook Pixel ID and select Save. The player then sends a page view, custom events at 50, 95 and 100 percent watched, and two custom events for each click or answer. The pixel is on Core and higher plans, and it sends no names, emails or standard events such as Lead.

  1. In Meta Events Manager, copy the ID of the pixel you want to use.
  2. In Mindstamp, open Integrations in the left menu and select Connect on the Facebook card.
  3. Paste the ID into Facebook Pixel ID and select Save. To use a different pixel for one video or group, set the ID on that video’s or group’s Integrations instead.
  4. In Events Manager, open Test Events for the pixel.
  5. Turn off ad blockers, open the video’s share link, play past 50 percent and click a button.
  6. Check that `PageView`, `MindstampProgress50` and `MindstampInteraction` appear.
  • Page view: `PageView` when playback starts.
  • Progress: `MindstampProgress50`, `MindstampProgress95` and `MindstampProgress100`, with `progress_percent`, `current_time`, `duration`, `video_id`, `video_token`, `video_title`, `viewer_id` and `language_code`.
  • Interactions: two custom events for each click, question reply or comment. `MindstampInteraction` fires every time, and a second event names the type, such as `MindstampButtonClick` or `MindstampQuestionReply`. Both carry `interaction_type`, `interaction_value`, `internal_label`, `parent_id`, `parent_type`, `parent_value`, `question_style`, `correct_answer`, `correct`, `current_time`, `video_id`, `video_token`, `video_title`, `viewer_id` and `language_code`.

Apart from PageView, Mindstamp sends custom events only. It sends no standard events such as Lead or Purchase, and no name, email or phone fields. A text answer is sent as interaction_value, so do not ask for personal details in a question on a video with a pixel. Events are not sent from the editor preview or from offline packages.

A video uses its own pixel ID first, then its group’s ID, then the video owner’s account ID. The account ID belongs to the user who saved it, so a teammate’s videos need the teammate’s own ID, or an ID on the video or group.

The pixel runs in the viewer’s browser, inside the Mindstamp player, while they watch. Ad blockers can stop it. Mindstamp does not send these events through the Meta Conversions API, which Meta recommends alongside the pixel.

Custom audiences can use custom events, so you can build an audience from viewers who reached `MindstampProgress95` or clicked a button.
