How do I send video results to Google Sheets?

Updated · 3 min read

Short answer

Mindstamp lists the connection as Google Drive. Open the video, select Integrations, select Connect on the Google Drive card, then select Connect Google Drive and pick a spreadsheet and a sheet tab for Views, Interactions or Viewers. Mindstamp writes the rows after each view ends, on every plan.

  1. In Google Sheets, create a spreadsheet with one tab for each record type you want: views, interactions or viewers.
  2. Sign in to Mindstamp as the video owner, open the video, select Integrations, then select Connect on the Google Drive card.
  3. Select Connect Google Drive and approve access in the Google window.
  4. In the Views row, select Select Spreadsheet and pick your spreadsheet in the Google file picker.
  5. Choose the tab for views and select Confirm Selection. Repeat for Interactions and Viewers if you want them, each with its own tab.
  6. Play the published video to the end in a private window, or close it and wait at least two minutes. Then check the sheet.
  • Views: one row for each completed view, with start and finish time, video, name, email, phone, custom ID, watched percentage, interaction count, participation, correctness, location and browser, plus a column for each interaction and variable.
  • Interactions: one row for each answer, click or other interaction, with the type, value, time in the video, click action, viewer name and email, answers, correct answer, whether it was correct, and the view ID.
  • Viewers: one row for each viewer, with name, email, phone, custom ID, total views and interactions, streaming and engagement totals, and variables.

Mindstamp writes to the sheet after the session is finished: the video ends, the viewer reaches 100 percent, or two minutes pass with no activity. It updates a row that has the same ID and adds new rows at the top, under the header. Views and interactions from anonymous viewers get rows too, with the name and email columns empty.

On each sync, Mindstamp rewrites the tab from cell A1 and rebuilds the header from the latest view’s interaction and variable columns. When you add or remove questions or variables, older rows can fall out of line with the header.

Use one tab for each video and record type, and do not add your own columns to it. Put formulas, charts and notes on a separate tab.

Mindstamp asks Google for the drive.file and spreadsheets scopes, and you choose the spreadsheet in Google’s own file picker. A Google spreadsheet holds up to 20 million cells.

  • No rows: Mindstamp writes with the video owner’s Google connection. If the owner has not connected Google Drive, no rows arrive and no error shows. Have the owner select Connect Google Drive.
  • Rows stopped: Mindstamp does not retry a failed write and shows no error. Check that the owner is still connected, then contact support with the video link.
  • Wrong sheet: select Remove on the row to stop syncing. Rows already in the sheet stay. Then pick the right sheet again.
