Update, October 2026: You still place buttons, hotspots, and images this way in Mindstamp. In the editor, you drag an interaction to its spot on the video and resize it, or you type exact position and size values under Styling. Each interaction can pause the video or let it keep playing, and each one runs its own click action. Since this post, hotspots have gained motion tracking, which makes a hotspot follow a moving object (not available for YouTube videos), plus attention effects such as Pulse and Glow on supported plans. The buttons, hotspots, and images pages show how each one works today. We also updated the links and a few details in the original post below.
Customers have long asked for more control over the placement and presentation of their interactions in Mindstamp. Today, we're elated to turn this request into reality!
Our latest update lets you resize, reposition, and style your buttons, hotspots, and images as you please. Continue reading to learn more, or try it in a free trial.
Add multiple buttons, placed precisely where you want them
Buttons can already be customized to match your brand or video experience, and now you can resize them, change the font size, place them exactly where you want, and leave them active for as long as you like. If you have a couple of options to present, click Save & Add Another to copy the button's timing and style for the next option. As before, each button can have its own action, such as opening a website, showing a message, or playing a video or audio clip. Our help article explains how to add several buttons at the same time.
A picture is worth a thousand words
Videos are engaging visual experiences, but sometimes a picture is the most effective way to drive home a point. You can place and size images anywhere on your video, pause the video or keep it playing while they display, and give each image a click action. For example, Show Image opens the picture full size, and Start Call dials a phone number.
Use images of social icons, like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, and Instagram, to create always-on clickable links to your social pages or to drive subscribers to your email list. Animated GIFs work too. Add a caption to each image to encourage action or offer context. The caption is also the image's text alternative for screen readers, and you can choose to show it on the video.
Whether or not you pause the video, images add information without any change to the video file. Our guide shows how to add a clickable image.
Enable clickable areas with hotspots
Instead of the previous 3x3 grid, hotspots now let you place a custom-sized clickable area anywhere on the video, add multiple hotspots at the same time, and decide whether the video pauses or keeps playing.
This precision lets you drive action from viewers based on what they see in your video, such as adding a product to their cart or playing an audio or video clip with more information about a subject. You can also give a hotspot the Show Image action to open a specification sheet, a diagram, or a page of a document as a full-size image. For the hotspot effects we added later, see our product update on cards, hotspot effects, and faster editing.
Try moveable interactions
If you haven't checked out Mindstamp recently, it's time to come back. When a trial ends, your videos stop playing for viewers, but your work stays saved for about 90 days, so you can choose a plan and continue where you left off. Our help center explains how the free trial works.
