Interactive video in Absorb LMS

Add the Mindstamp player address to an Absorb course as an Object learning object, and Absorb shows it in a modal and marks it complete when opened. Absorb does not officially support SCORM packages that load external content, so test the Mindstamp package before rollout.

In Mindstamp, publish the video from its Share page.
Under Embed, choose Basic iframe and copy the code. Keep only the address inside src. It starts with https.
In the Absorb course syllabus, select Add Learning Object, then Object.
Set Source to URL and paste the address. For desktop and mobile, choose Launch in a modal (iFrame).
Preview the course as a learner in a browser and in the Absorb Learning app.

SCORM, test first

Test the SCORM package

Absorb lists SCORM 1.2 and 2004 with one SCO. It also says that external content URLs in SCORM packages are not officially supported. The Mindstamp package loads the hosted video, so test one package first.

On the Mindstamp Share page, under Export, select Download SCORM package. This needs a Core plan or higher.
In SCORM Version, choose SCORM 1.2. Absorb does not state which SCORM 2004 edition it supports.
In Completion Checkpoint, choose 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95 or 100 percent. The 80 and 85 percent options do not record completion.
Upload the ZIP file as a SCORM learning object. Turn on Lesson contains assessment to record the score.
Run it as a test learner. If it does not track, use the Object learning object instead.

Known issues

Check these before you publish

The modal stays blank: Absorb blocks standard video page addresses inside its iframe. Use the address from the Mindstamp embed code.
The SCORM package does not track: Absorb does not officially support external URLs in SCORM packages. If the test fails, use the Object learning object.
Safari and the mobile app: Absorb reports that desktop Safari and its mobile app block addresses that are not embed addresses. Check both.
An Object completes on open: Absorb counts an Object learning object as complete when the learner opens it, with no score.
