Interactive video metrics that matter

A practical guide to the measurements that show whether viewers watched, participated, understood, and acted.

Move beyond the play count

A view confirms that playback started. It does not explain whether the viewer stayed, understood the message, made a choice, or took the next step. Interactive video adds measurements tied to those moments.

Core engagement metrics

Attention and completion

Review watch time, completion, rewatches, and drop-off points to see where attention holds and where the recording may need a clearer or shorter section.

Interaction rate

Measure how often viewers click buttons, open hotspots, choose a branch, download a resource, or use another interaction that appears in the video.

Responses and understanding

Question answers, scores, and response patterns show what an individual viewer understood and where a group may need clarification or follow-up.

Actions and outcomes

Track lead submissions, booked meetings, opened links, purchase actions, and other calls to action against the moment in the video that prompted them.

Use the metrics together

No single number proves a video succeeded. Combine attention, interaction, response, and outcome data around the goal of the video, then use the weakest step to decide what to improve next.

Try it yourself

Put this in one of your videos

Add questions, branching, and a call to action to a video you already have.
