# Track interactive video progress in Google Analytics

Analytics guide · Updated: 2026-10-12 · Progress events from the viewer’s browser, sent during playback. Facts checked October 12, 2026.

Paste your GA4 measurement ID into Mindstamp for your account, a group, or one video, and the player sends progress events at 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95, and 100 percent of each play. On Core and higher, Google Analytics gets that watch progress and the Google tag’s default page view, with no answers, clicks, or lead details.

## Seven progress milestones, sent during playback

| Event | When the player sends it | What GA4 receives | Plan |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| page_view | Once, when playback starts and the player loads the Google tag with your ID. | The Google tag’s default page view for the Mindstamp player page. | Core and higher |
| mindstamp_video_progress | At 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95, and 100 percent, once each per play. | The parameters progress_percent, video_id, video_token, video_title, viewer_id, and page_location. | Core and higher |
| Reached N% | At the same seven milestones, next to mindstamp_video_progress. | One event per milestone, named like Reached 50%, with the video title as event_label and no video ID. Google’s naming rules ask for no spaces, so build reports on mindstamp_video_progress. | Core and higher |
| Answers, clicks, and lead details | Never. The player does not send them. | Nothing from Mindstamp. A script on your page can forward player events to GA4. | Not sent. Player events need Core and higher. |

## Paste the measurement ID, then check Realtime

### The account ID belongs to one user

Mindstamp saves the **Google Analytics ID** on the account **Integrations** page for your user only. A teammate’s videos use the teammate’s own ID, so each video owner adds it, or you set the ID on a group or a video.

### Add your measurement ID

1. In Google Analytics, copy the measurement ID of your GA4 web data stream.
2. In Mindstamp, open **Integrations**.
3. On the **Google Analytics** card, select **Connect**.
4. Paste the ID into **Google Analytics ID**, then select **Save**.

### Set a group or video ID, then check GA4

1. To use a different property for one video, open the video and select **Integrations**.
2. On the **Google Analytics** card, select **Connect**.
3. Enter the video’s ID, then select **Save**.
4. For a group, use the **Integrations** tab on the group page instead. A video ID wins over a group ID.
5. Open the published video’s link and play past 25 percent. The editor preview sends nothing.
6. In GA4, open **Realtime** and find mindstamp_video_progress under **Event count by event name**.
7. A day or two later, check **Reports** > **Engagement** > **Events**.

## Enhanced measurement next to Mindstamp progress events

### Enhanced measurement

- Video events only for YouTube embeds that have JS API support turned on.
- A video_progress event at 10, 25, 50, and 75 percent for those YouTube videos. It does not track the Mindstamp player.

### Events from the Mindstamp player

- mindstamp_video_progress and Reached N% at 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95, and 100 percent.
- The video title and a Mindstamp viewer ID on each progress event, plus the video ID on mindstamp_video_progress. No name or email.
- Your own measurement ID per account, group, or video.

## Check these before you rely on the data

### No answers or clicks

Answers, clicks, and lead details stay in Mindstamp. To count them in GA4, listen for player events on your page and send your own GA4 events, on Core and higher.

### Parameters need custom dimensions

Create event-scoped custom dimensions in GA4 for parameters such as progress_percent and video_title. You can use them in reports 24 to 48 hours after you create them.

### 100 percent needs a real end

The 100 percent event fires only when the video plays to its end. A viewer who leaves just before the end stops at 95 percent, so count 95 as a finish if that matters to you.

### No consent check or test button

Mindstamp does not read your site’s consent banner and keeps no send log. Review the setup with your privacy team, then confirm the events in GA4 Realtime.

## Google Analytics interactive video FAQ

### How do I connect Google Analytics to Mindstamp?

Paste your GA4 measurement ID. Open **Integrations**, select **Connect** on the **Google Analytics** card, enter the ID in **Google Analytics ID**, and select **Save**. You can also set an ID on a group or one video. The video’s ID wins, then the group’s, then the video owner’s account ID. See [how to use Google Analytics with Mindstamp](https://mindstamp.com/help/how-to-use-google-analytics-integration-with-mindstamp).

### Which Mindstamp plan includes Google Analytics?

Core and higher. On Basic, the player sends nothing to Google Analytics. Player events on your page, the route for answers and clicks, also start on Core. See [pricing](https://mindstamp.com/pricing).

### Does a viewer need to give an email for Google Analytics events?

No. Anonymous views send the same events. Mindstamp sends a viewer ID and never a name or email. To see who watched and what they answered, use [viewer-level reports](https://mindstamp.com/reporting) in Mindstamp.

### When do the events reach Google Analytics?

During playback. The viewer’s browser sends each event as the video passes a milestone. GA4 Realtime usually shows them within a few minutes, and standard reports can take 24 to 48 hours.

### Does Google Analytics get quiz answers and button clicks?

No. The player sends progress events and the Google tag’s default page view. To count answers or clicks in GA4, listen for [player events on your page](https://mindstamp.com/help/mindstamp-embed-iframe-events-guide) and send your own GA4 events from that page. To send each answer with the viewer’s details to your own systems, use [webhooks](https://mindstamp.com/integrations/webhooks).

### What should I set up in GA4?

Custom dimensions, if you want to report on the parameters. Go to **Admin** > **Data display** > **Custom definitions** and create event-scoped dimensions. A standard property allows 50. You can also mark mindstamp_video_progress as a key event with the star icon. Key events do not change past data.
