# Interactive video in Cornerstone OnDemand

LMS guide · Updated: 2026-10-05 · As documented by Cornerstone OnDemand. Documents checked September 30, 2026.

Upload a Mindstamp SCORM package with the Cornerstone Content Uploader, and the learner transcript records completion and a score. Cornerstone has no block for embed code. The closest option is a Material with a URL, which Cornerstone opens in a new window, and the video sends no score.

## Cornerstone takes a package or a link, not embed code

| Method | Where in Cornerstone OnDemand | What Cornerstone OnDemand records | What Mindstamp records |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Embed code | Not available. Cornerstone learning objects have no HTML or iframe block. | Not available. | Not available. |
| Share link | A Material with a URL. It opens in a new window, outside the course. | The Material on the transcript. No score from the video. | Each view, answer, click, and branch. Add lead capture to see names. |
| SCORM package | Content Uploader, as an online course. One standard per ZIP file, up to 2 GB. | Completion and score on the transcript. | Each view, with the learner name and ID from Cornerstone. |

## Put the video on the transcript

### Add the link as a URL Material

Use this route only for optional viewing. Cornerstone adds the item to the transcript and opens it in a new window, and the video reports nothing back.

1. In Mindstamp, publish the video from its **Share** page.
2. Select **Copy link** to copy the share link.
3. In Cornerstone, add the share link as a URL **Material**. Cornerstone’s Materials help page did not load during research, so the labels in your portal can differ.
4. Assign the Material to a test learner.
5. Launch it as that learner. If no window opens, allow pop-ups for your Cornerstone portal.

### Upload an online course

Cornerstone lists SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 but does not say which 2004 edition. Start with SCORM 1.2.

1. On the Mindstamp **Share** page, under **Export**, select **Download SCORM package**. This needs a Core plan or higher.
2. In **SCORM Version**, choose **SCORM 1.2**. To use SCORM 2004, test one package first.
3. In **Completion Checkpoint**, choose 10, 25, 50, 75, 90, 95 or 100 percent. The 80 and 85 percent options do not record completion.
4. In the Cornerstone **Content Uploader**, create an online course and upload the ZIP file as it is. Do not add other files to it.
5. Assign the course to a test learner, play past the checkpoint, and check the transcript.

## Cornerstone’s Video learning object plays video with no questions

### Cornerstone learning objects

- A Video learning object for playback, with no in-video questions documented.
- Online courses from e-learning packages, tracked on the transcript.
- Interactive video through partner integrations, such as Kaltura and Panopto.

### What the package adds

- Questions at the point in a compliance video where a policy applies.
- A transcript score: the percent of questions answered correctly.
- Every answer in Mindstamp, matched to the Cornerstone learner ID for audits.
- One package for every Cornerstone portal, since the video stays hosted in Mindstamp.

## Check these before you publish

### The window does not open

Cornerstone opens training in a new window, so a pop-up blocker can stop it. Allow pop-ups for your Cornerstone portal.

### SCORM 2004 edition not stated

Cornerstone lists SCORM 2004 without an edition. Use SCORM 1.2, or upload one 2004 package and run it as a test learner.

### The upload is rejected

The Content Uploader takes one standard per ZIP file. Upload the Mindstamp ZIP alone, without other packages inside it.

### A share link sends no score

A URL Material puts the item on the transcript, but the video reports nothing to Cornerstone. Use the SCORM package when the score counts.

## Cornerstone OnDemand interactive video FAQ

### Can I add an interactive video to Cornerstone OnDemand?

Yes, as a SCORM online course. Upload the Mindstamp package with the Content Uploader, and Cornerstone tracks it on the transcript like any online course. Cornerstone opens the training in a new window, and the package loads the player in that window.

### Can I embed the Mindstamp player in a Cornerstone page?

No. Cornerstone learning objects do not include an HTML or iframe block, so there is no place for embed code. The closest option is a Material with the share link. It opens in a new window and sends nothing back to Cornerstone.

### Which SCORM version should I use for Cornerstone?

Use SCORM 1.2 for Cornerstone OnDemand. Cornerstone lists SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, but its documents do not name the 2004 edition. Mindstamp exports SCORM 2004 3rd and 4th editions, so test one 2004 package before you use it across courses. See [SCORM export](https://mindstamp.com/help/scorm-export).

### Can Mindstamp connect to Cornerstone with xAPI or LTI?

No. Cornerstone accepts xAPI packages, and Cornerstone sets up each LTI Provider through Edge Import, so course authors cannot add one. Mindstamp exports SCORM only. See [xAPI and cmi5](https://mindstamp.com/help/xapi-and-cmi5).

### Does Cornerstone have interactive video?

Cornerstone documents a plain Video learning object. Interactive video in Cornerstone comes from partner integrations, such as Kaltura and Panopto. Mindstamp needs no integration: the SCORM package loads the interactive video from Mindstamp, and the score goes to the transcript.
