# How do I generate quiz questions with AI?

## Short answer

Open the video and select **Create Quiz** in the interactions list. Enter how many questions you want, from 1 to 20, and select **Generate questions**. Mindstamp writes multiple-choice questions from the transcript and places them across the video. Review them, remove any you do not want, and save.

## Steps

1. Make sure the video has a transcript. If it has none, the builder offers **Create Transcript**.
2. Open the video and select **Create Quiz** in the interactions list. You can also select **Generate questions** on the **Transcript** page, or **Generate Questions with AI** when you add a new question.
3. Under **How many questions?**, enter a number from 1 to 20. The default is 5.
4. Select **Generate questions**. The window shows the progress while Mindstamp writes each question.
5. Review each question. The correct answer is marked. Remove any question you do not want, or select **Remove All Questions** to start again.
6. Select the **Save** button, which shows the number of questions, to add them to the video. Then open any question to change its text, time or settings.

## What the builder writes

- Multiple-choice questions with 3 to 5 answers and one correct answer, so each question counts toward the score.
- Each question comes from the part of the transcript near its place in the video.
- The builder avoids repeating a question already in the video, and avoids facts that an existing question already tests.

## Where the questions go

On a video with no questions, the new questions are spaced evenly across the video. On a video that already has questions, each new question goes in the middle of the largest gap between questions, so running the builder again fills the gaps. Questions in the Magic Menu or on the end screen do not affect placement.

## Languages

The builder writes in the transcript’s language when it is English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian or German. For a transcript in another language, it writes in English.

## Check before you share

The builder adds nothing to the video until you save. AI can get facts wrong, so read each question and its correct answer before you publish.
