# How does the Constant Contact integration work?

Topic: [Reporting and integrations](https://mindstamp.com/help/reporting) · Updated: 2026-10-12

## Short answer

Link your Constant Contact account in **Integrations**. Then open a video, turn on **Sync leads to Constant Contact**, and pick lists under **Add to Lists** and **Remove from Lists**. When a view ends, Mindstamp adds or updates a contact for each viewer who gave a name and an email. It works on every plan.

## Steps

1. In Mindstamp, open **Integrations** and select **Connect** on the **Constant Contact** card.
2. Check the status next to the page title. When it shows **Connected**, your Constant Contact lists load on the page. If it shows **Not Connected**, [contact us](https://mindstamp.com/contact) to link your account.
3. Open the video, select **Integrations**, then select **Manage** on the **Constant Contact** card.
4. Turn on **Sync leads to Constant Contact**.
5. Under **Add to Lists**, check each list the viewer should join. Under **Remove from Lists**, check each list the viewer should leave. Mindstamp saves each change.
6. Make sure the video asks for a name and an email, for example with [lead capture](https://mindstamp.com/help/how-do-i-capture-name-email-or-phone-number-in-my-mindstamp-video).
7. Play the published video in a private window with a test name and email, and let the view end. Then check the contact and its lists in Constant Contact.

## What is sent

- The viewer’s email address. Mindstamp creates a contact, or updates the contact that has the same email.
- The viewer’s name, split at the first space. The first word becomes the first name and the second word the last name. Mindstamp drops any later words.
- List changes: the contact joins the lists under **Add to Lists** and leaves the lists under **Remove from Lists**. Its other lists stay as they are.
- Not sent: phone number, answers, clicks, variables and watch progress. To send those, use [webhooks](https://mindstamp.com/help/webhooks) or [Zapier](https://mindstamp.com/help/how-to-connect-and-send-data-to-zapier).

## When it is sent

Mindstamp sends the contact after the session is finished: the video ends, the viewer reaches 100 percent, or two minutes pass with no activity. Mindstamp skips a viewer with no name or no email. A name and email given partway through the video still count. Each later view by the same viewer updates the contact again.

## Whose account is used

Mindstamp sends each contact through the Constant Contact account that the video’s owner linked. If the owner has not linked an account, Mindstamp sends nothing for that video and shows no error. After you add a list in Constant Contact, select **Refresh Data** to load it.

## Check before you rely on it

- For an existing contact, Mindstamp sends a full update that carries only the email, name and lists. Constant Contact’s API guide says a full update empties core fields that the request leaves out, such as job title or company name. Test with one existing contact first.
- Mindstamp does not retry a failed send and shows no error. Check one test contact after setup.
